SMS-it will return an status if it was able to submit the message to the SMSC for the distribution to the target handset. Therefore if the cable is broken, your application will know about it. Just check if the EXIT code is <> 0 after the call to the command line.

Just replace the calling line of the Script to

Result = objShell.run(sCommand, WindowStyle, WaitOnReturn )
and check if the RESULT <> 0.
